Introduction
The coercive features of legal systems raise difficult theoretical questions related to autonomy and to moral constraints on the treatment of individuals. This workshop brought together a diverse group of people in law and philosophy in Brooklyn, New York to discuss papers addressing issues ranging from the epistemology of consent to how judges ought to respond to unduly harsh sentencing laws.
