📢 Join Professor Alex Sarch at UCL Laws!

Our SCLP Research Fellow, Professor Alex Sarch, will present ‘The Culpable Wrongness Constraint Has Teeth in Practice’, a chapter from his book project Making a Morally Better Criminal Law, as part of the John Austin Seminar Series.

About the Seminar:

Legal moralists hold that the culpable wrongness constraint is an important limit on what conduct may be criminalised. But does it have teeth in practice, or is it too weak for busy legislators to worry about? Sarch argues that it remains a practically important factor in the criminalisation inquiry: it matters even if it is only defeasible, its violation generates weighty complaints, and sophisticated attempts to reconcile it with mala prohibita offences do not make it trivially easy to satisfy.

📅 Date: Monday 9 November, 6–8pm (UK time)

📍 Place: [UCL Faculty of Laws, or online]
